BETHESDA STREETSCAPE - BETHESDA, MARYLAND (USA)

Redevelopment of the city of Bethesda 

This redevelopment was a 15-year project starting in the mid 1980’s. It involved over ten large commercial and residential building construction projects and the reconstruction of over two miles of sidewalks and streets. The office of James Urban was involved in nearly half of the building projects and assisted in the development and implementation of the streetscape design standards including innovative tree planting systems. Today Bethesda has a healthy urban forest of maturing trees, and is a vibrant commercial success.
